The Context
Nanak Foods, one of Canada’s most recognized South Asian food manufacturing companies, was entering a significant phase of organizational growth and expansion.
As part of its long term strategic vision, the company was advancing plans tied to the development of what would become one of the largest dairy manufacturing facilities in British Columbia. The expansion represented a major milestone not only for the organization, but also for the broader food manufacturing and agricultural sectors within the province.
At the same time, the company had secured substantial support and investment through provincial economic development initiatives and government backed funding programs, further accelerating operational growth and expansion planning.
Given the scale, complexity, and financial oversight required during this transformative period, Nanak Foods identified the need for a highly experienced Chief Financial Officer capable of supporting executive leadership through rapid growth, operational scaling, capital planning, and long term financial strategy.
The mandate required a finance executive who could operate both strategically and operationally within a fast evolving manufacturing environment.
The Leadership Need
The company was seeking a senior financial leader with deep expertise in financial strategy, manufacturing operations, capital planning, governance, and organizational scaling.
The ideal candidate required the ability to support executive leadership during a period of accelerated expansion while strengthening financial infrastructure, reporting capability, operational planning, and long term business strategy.
Equally important was the need for a leader capable of navigating complex growth environments involving government funding initiatives, operational expansion, and large scale capital investment projects.
The role required a combination of executive leadership presence, technical financial expertise, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to long term organizational transformation.
The Assignment
KIRAH was engaged to conduct an executive search for the organization’s Chief Financial Officer role during a pivotal stage of corporate growth and operational expansion.
The mandate focused on identifying senior financial leaders with extensive experience in manufacturing, operational finance, scaling organizations, strategic planning, and executive leadership.
Given the significance of the company’s expansion plans and long term growth objectives, the search required a highly targeted and confidential process focused not only on technical qualifications and leadership capability, but also long term strategic alignment with the organization’s vision.
The assignment required balancing financial leadership expertise with operational understanding and executive level partnership capability.
The Search Approach
KIRAH conducted a comprehensive national search targeting senior finance executives across manufacturing, food production, consumer packaged goods, and operationally complex business environments.
The process focused on identifying leaders with experience supporting organizational growth, capital intensive operations, and executive level financial leadership.
A highly targeted outreach strategy was implemented engaging senior finance professionals with backgrounds in manufacturing finance, operational scaling, financial transformation, and strategic growth initiatives.
Particular emphasis was placed on identifying leaders capable of operating effectively within entrepreneurial and rapidly evolving business environments.
Senior executive candidates were formally assessed through a structured evaluation process focused on financial leadership capability, strategic thinking, operational expertise, executive presence, and alignment with the organization’s long term direction.
The evaluation process also emphasized the ability to support organizational transformation, large scale operational expansion, and executive decision making during a critical growth stage.
Throughout the engagement, close collaboration was maintained with executive leadership to ensure alignment on organizational priorities, growth objectives, and leadership expectations.
The process emphasized identifying a CFO capable of serving not only as a financial steward, but also as a strategic business partner during one of the company’s most significant expansion phases.
The Appointment
The search resulted in the appointment of Brijender Pall as Chief Financial Officer for Nanak Foods.
Brijender brought significant financial leadership experience, operational insight, and executive capability aligned with the company’s ambitious growth trajectory and expansion initiatives.
His background in financial strategy, operational management, and organizational scaling positioned him well to support the company through a transformative stage of growth, capital investment, and operational expansion.
The appointment represented an important leadership milestone as Nanak Foods continued strengthening its executive team and advancing its long term vision within the food manufacturing sector.
